Meet Amy Benson

design project manager

When you recognize your “people,” you’ve just got to reach out and say “Hey, maybe we should work together?”  Loving the Hazel Tree story and following their success for years, Amy reached out to Karen early in 2022 to see if collaboration could be in their future.  A short while later, a Project Manager position opened and it was a good fit.

Losing her Mom at the age of 27 had Amy rethinking her life.  She returned to college to take a few evening classes in interior design, which was her original college major that didn't stick, to see if it was still calling to her.  Immediately, she knew the answer was yes. But it wasn’t until she was laid off from her job at a local investment firm and her kids were school age that she pursued her degree in earnest.  Babysitters, a supportive husband and sheer tenacity helped her to see her dream come true when she earned her BA in Interior Design, graduation summa cum laude in 2013.

Amy brings experience working with an architect, assisting new home buyers in making their design selections and assisting at an interior design studio.  Her focus on sustainable sourcing and passion for beautiful, functional design meld perfectly with Hazel Tree’s like minded thinking and focus on working with local artisans.

In addition to her degree in Design, Amy has a BA in English with a minor in Piano from Baldwin-Wallace.  Amy lives in Wadsworth with her husband, her adult children and her funny corgi.  She loves to laugh and enjoys seeing comedians at the Civic.  She enjoys baking, sewing, reading, traveling and drinking good wine, although not all at the same time.
