The ones before us

Happy Friday everyone (and a special happy sunny Friday to my fellow NEOhioans! Yay!) I hope this post finds you heading into a weekend surrounded by loved ones and fun times, wherever you are. I myself am taking the little one and BFF to celebrate the return of the blue herons! Can’t wait to get outdoors this weekend. Spring…so close!

But first, I wanted to show you a little something and then say a little something about a chair. The photos below show before and after of one of the elements we redesigned for a client’s Master Bathroom. Isn’t she a beauty? Such fine work by my refinisher and upholsterer…I love it. More importantly though, my client loves it!

See, this chair was Jan’s great grandmother’s chair. This chair has been with her and traveled with her, steady by her side, for a very long time. She loves this chair…the memories it brings her daily of childhood, of the farmhouse she sees it sitting in most in her mind, of the women who sat most in this chair…

This is a perfect example of why I do what I do. It gives me such joy when an heirloom like this can be polished up and honored for what it is, where it’s been, and to carry on the love of those who took care of it before we did.

Happy weekend everyone! I hope you make lots of memories.
