On Saturday, July 19, two city trolleys loaded with people passionate about preservation, architecture and Akron history were able to tour four beautiful homes in West Akron on the Preservation Alliance of Greater Akron's Historic Home Tour....and the homeowners said I could take pictures to share with all of you!

This post will be the first of four posts where I share interior and exterior photos of the homes we toured that day. Three of the homes were on Mayfair Road, and the fourth and final home, where a lavish reception was held, was "The Anchorage" located on Merriman Rd.

The first stop on the tour was at 875 Mayfair Rd. The brick Tudor Revival home was built in 1929 for Joseph and Gladys Swain (and is currently on the market!) As much as I love the street view of these residences, I REALLY love seeing the backyard getaways of homes like these.

I'll post the second home's photos next week. Until then, if you'd like to get to know more about Preservation Alliance of Greater Akron, you can click here to be directed to their facebook page.
