Community Spaces

Hazel Tree also offers community-centric design services for public places. (And all of our community-hugging, design geek dreams come true!)

Our first community project — designing a public canal-facing park in downtown Akron — was part of the Akron Civic Commons project to help build connective tissues in our public spaces.

Since then, we have tackled a number of public place projects, including the gold and silver 2017 Lock 3 Christmas Tree, which was dripping with festive lights. And we approach public spaces in the same way we approach interior projects: merging function with imagination and whimsy.

Our passion for locally-sourced elements and community-focused art makes public spaces not only vibrant and interesting, but authentic and welcoming to the full community.

What an honor it is to have an opportunity to do what we normally do on the interior of spaces, but for the whole community in a public exterior space!”
